| Parallel Imports guarantee of
quality? |

|
Under the laws and regulations of Hong Kong SAR, all
pharmaceutical products must be registered with the
Pharmacy and Poisons Board. It is an offence for any
person to sell, offer for sale, distribute or possess
for such purpose any pharmaceutical products which have
not been registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
|
|
|
| |
The Pharmacy and Poisons Board will undertake
a very strict and careful review process in determining
each application for registration to ensure the health
of and medical benefits to the public. In order to successfully
register a pharmaceutical product, a pharmaceutical company
must satisfy certain prescribed requirements, for example,
provision of documents in relation to the product to support
its safety, efficacy and quality such as clinical study
reports, product sample for laboratory analysis, stability
test data, etc.
|
|
It is illegal for any person to sell or import any
pharmaceutical products manufactured or imported by
anyone other than the manufacturer or importer whose
details are registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons
Board pursuant to the Pharmacy and Poisons Regulations.
Most pharmaceutical products are sensitive to temperature,
light and moisture. These products can easily be invisibly
damaged by inappropriate storage conditions. Save for
non-poisons, all pharmaceutical products can only be
purchased at places registered with Pharmacy and Poisons
Board. In determining whether to all registration of
any premises, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board will consider
the adequacy of storage facilities in the premises for
the storage of the pharmaceutical products. This ensures
the products are still in good condition when they reach
our hands. In contrast, there is no guarantee that a
parallel importer would have adequate storage facilities
to ensure that the pharmaceutical products purchased
from them have not been damaged.
