Pharmaceutical products in Hong Kong are broadly
divided into four categories, namely
| POISONS |
(e.g. anti-hypertensive) |
| NON-POISONS
|
(e.g. paracetamol) |
| ANTIBIOTICS |
(e.g. penicillin) |
| DANGEROUS
DRUGS |
(e.g. morphine). |
|
Under the Poisons List Regulations, poisons
are divided into two main types, namely
| Part
I poisons |
(PI Poisons) |
| Part
II poisons |
(PII Poisons) |
|
The Pharmacy and Poison Ordinance imposes certain
restrictions on the sale of PII Poisons. There
are further restrictions imposed on the sale of
PI Poisons which fall within the First and Third
Schedules of the Pharmacy and Poisons Regulations.
