Clinical features of osteoarthritis are10,11:
- Pain, usually exacerbated by movement
- Affects one joint or more asymmetrically
- Stiffness, particularly when a person resumes activity after a period of rest. Usually takes 30mins to "loosen up" their joints
- Creaking joints and palpable crepitus
- Local signs of inflammation (redness, warmth, and swelling)
- Joint movement is restricted, and joint instability may be detected in advanced cases
