Asthma (also known as allergic airway disease) is a
condition characterized by inflammation of the bronchial
tubes. During an asthma attack, allergic reaction leads
to inflammation, which causes the patient's bronchial
tubes to swell and narrow, with excess mucus secretions.
As a result, normal breathing becomes restricted. In
very severe cases, patients may even die of suffocation.
Asthma can cause chronic coughing or intermittent breathing
difficulties, adversely affecting the daily lives of
patients and their family.
As yet, there is no cure for asthma. However, with
adequate care and regular medication as prescribed by
a doctor, asthma can be effectively controlled and quality
of life can be improved.
